This is something I made in senior year of high school. It was meant to be an art piece that was put somewhere on the school grounds to inspire others and bring awareness to the movement "Make Art, Not War." I made this piece to inspire other students with creativity and how it overpowers negativity. Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 as well as a seniors getting out earlier than other students, it never got displayed on the school grounds and just became another project that got graded.

I am going to express a thought that I have had lingering in my mind for a long time. I am a karate student at a martial arts school called Ambrose Martial Arts for Filipino martial arts and Kenpo. I’ve been learning martial arts since I was four to learn how to defend myself and because it was fun and interesting to me. A thought I’ve had over the years is that I have the skills to really hurt people. Hurt them in ways that may permanently leave wounds that won’t heal. Even though I have such an ability, I do not wish to harm anything or want such an ability to make people think I’m better than them. I plan to use photoshop to alter my appearance to look frightening and dangerous but also look peaceful and approachable. Give myself claws and change myself to look more like an entity rather than a human while adding a glow to myself towards the center of my mind. I’ll also add details to myself and around me to give off a calm feeling despite the fact that I am threatening in appearance.

The movie I created the poster about is the Dragon Ball Super Broly Movie that came out in 2018. I planned to have the poster show the main key point of this movie, to see the two protagonists, Goku and Vegeta, fight against the legendary super Saiyan Broly. The poster was going to include the main symbols of Dragon Ball like the Dragonballs themselves as well as some silhouettes of side characters and key objects. In the end, the silhouettes of the mountains in which they fight in as well as the main three fighters was enough to make this poster stick out. The poster shows the clash between these three titans as the main visual of the poster. to add depth to the poster to prevent it form looking flat, I shaded the characters to show what may be closer or even covered by their hair or maybe even their clothing.

The haiku that this video represents gave me a spiritual vibe. Dreams are strange fantasies that happen while we are not awake but the joy of reality is somehow greater to me than that of dreams. I try to capture the bizarre but calmness of dreams but as the video goes on, I show more moments rooted in reality that give me courage to go through out life. I attempt to use small symbolism as well as sounds to add a mythic and spiritual feeling through out this journey of a day and as I completed this video and audio, I feel as if I successfully captured the calm and spiritual vibe that the Haiku has given me within this project.
